Art Roho is an artistic concept developed by bassist Jakob Roland and drummer Henrik Holst, reimagining the traditional role of the rhythm section. 
 
They are modernizing the traditional role of the in-house rhythm section by transforming it into an outward-reaching concept, engaging in a wide range of collaborations across the globe. 
 
This proactive approach creates a more dynamic and flexible framework, perfectly suited to today’s global artistic infrastructure.
Working with artists from across the globe, Art Roho bridges jazz and experimental genres to craft diverse and captivating sonic landscapes. 
 
With over 400,000 monthly streams across all major platforms, four records released, and four more in the pipeline, the duo continues to make their mark. 
Their extensive touring, both nationally and internationally, highlights their impact and positions Art Roho as a vital force in the future of jazz music. Jakob Roland

Jakob Roland is a Danish double bass player, educated at the prestigious Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC) in Copenhagen. He has further honed his craft in New York, studying with jazz legends like Larry Grenadier, Ben Street, Jonathan Kreisberg, Matt Brewer, Kevin Hays, and Cecil McBee.
Performing around 250 concerts annually, both nationally and internationally, Jakob is one of the most sought-after bassists on the european jazz scene. His playing is deeply rooted in the tradition of masters like Oscar Pettiford and Ron Carter, yet remains open to influences from both classical music and contemporary jazz. In addition to leading several bands, Jakob is an active composer, continually exploring new musical horizons.
 

Henrik Holst

Henrik Holst is a well-regarded drummer within Copenhagen’s jazz scene, contributing his talent to various groups like the Kathrine Windfeld Big Band, Sextet, and Jeppe Zacho Quintet. Additionally, he leads the bands Oh People and Art Roho, platforms for original music and artistic exploration.
With over a decade in the industry, Henrik has collaborated with notable musicians such as Mike Stern, Gilad Hekselman, Immanuel Wilkins, and participated in unique drum performances alongside Jonathan Blake and Winard Harper.
Henrik honed his craft under the guidance of Danish drum legend Anders Mogensen for three years and has received occasional mentorship from respected drummers like Joe Farnsworth, Greg Hutchinson, John Riley, and Obed Calvaire. His drumming style is characterized by a distinct touch, a strong sense of swing, and a melodic finesse, establishing him as a top-tier drummer.
